One thing I would like to see more of in cartoons/illustrations in general is more interesting perspective angles. Part of the beauty of illustration is that you an put the “camera” literally anywhere you want. Show stuff from below or from some far corner of the room or anywhere else for that matter.
The horizon line doesn’t have to be perfectly horizontal. Heck, the horizon line doesn’t even need to be straight! I’m sick of shows like Family Guy who use the exact same perspective in every scene of every damn episode.
Mix it up! It’s makes for a way more interesting experience.
I’ve certainly got my work cut out for me X_X
I honestly didn’t the first thing about how to illustrate a dog fighting, so I took a bunch of cues from the official Okami art book
(Note: I can’t guarantee that link works)
"Back ye hoosiers! I have smoshed this here army and lay waste to your kingdom. Kneel before me cretins, least I feast upon your juicy meat bodies"
Ever have trouble drawing cool effects like an energy beam or big blast of water?
Surprisingly enough, I’ve found Bulbapedia to be a great resource for reference pictures on stuff like that. They have pictures of every single attack from both the anime (The older episodes are better for this since they didn’t use computer generated effects) and the manga. I’ve found it super helpful for figuring out what various effects look like.
And don’t think it’s only good for pokemon related stuff! A lot of attacks are element based, so you can use them for just about anything.
You see this? Look at this awesome lizard.
These are male Fiji banded iguanas and they are the most gorgeous looking reptiles I have ever seen in my life.
And if they weren’t critically endangered I swear to god, I would go out and buy one tomorrow.
TUMBLR PLEASE STOP SWITCHING THE BOLD AND ITALIC FONTS ON MOBILE DEVICES IT MAKES ME LOOK LIKE I’M YELLING ALL THE TIME.
EXCEPT FOR NOW WHEN I ACTUALLY AM YELLING
wait, so is it just me?!?
I wish Nintendo would localize some of the other Legend of Starfy/Staffy games. I know the 32-bit era is officially over, but mayhaps they could be released on the 3DS Virtual Console?
(I tried playing some of them on an emulator, but there’s a surprisingly large amount of dialogue and I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing most of the time… )
